ABOUT Put It On

What is a Put It On Community Concert?

Our shows host a curated variety of local musicians of different styles, backgrounds and abilities.

Put It On focuses on uplifting artists and community through music, providing an accessible performance platform and a warm, enthusiastic environment.

I’m a performer/organiser - what is involved?

PIO Community Concerts are diverse, curated live music events created by you and the PIO team. Your Put It On show will represent your community, however that may look. Perhaps you have a mix of chamber music groups, bands, solo acts… everyone is welcome to register their interest, and we will help to set it all up.

As a Performer, you will need to submit an expression of interest including what you would like to perform, how long it is and any gear you may require. We do ask that setups are DIY-friendly, and performances are a maximum of 10 minutes each. You will be asked to arrive early on the day to meet your fellow PIO community members!

The process for curating the concert will be personal and transparent:

  1. Submit your Expression Of Interest via our ‘Register’ page here. Resources to assist are available here.

  2. We will be in touch via email or phone to discuss your submission and whether it fits in this show, or if we wait for next time. We will work with your local Community Organiser to curate submissions.

  3. We will start planning your Community Concert!

If you don’t end up performing in the show, you will be encouraged to come along as a community member and we will - with your permission - keep your details for next time.

You can also register an EOI as a Community Organiser. If you’d like to bring a PIO show to your community, we can work with you to make it happen!

Who will I be speaking to?

Hi! You’ll be registering your interest with Put It On founder, Madeleine Jevons. Mads is a violinist and curator with a passion for community and live music of all varieties. She will put you in touch with your organiser/performers, and help curate your show.

You may already know your local community organiser/artists, if not we will introduce you!

Mads works with creative producer Bron Belcher to bring PIO Community Concerts to life.

How does the day run?

Every PIO concert will look slightly different depending on your community, and we will organise everything in advance to make show day run smoothly. Every Community Concert day will have:

  • A community meet and greet before soundcheck/rehearsal - we ask that you come with an open mind, and prepare to share a little about yourself and your music.

  • Soundcheck/rehearsal before the show - you will have an allocated time slot to get comfortable and make sure you have everything you need for your performance. We’ll have a green room area where you can relax, chat and snack with your fellow performers.

  • Showtime!
